What a wonderful way to spend a few hours, in the sunshine, on a beautiful waterway, documenting the life and pastimes of journalist, Josie Adnitt, who lives aboard her 50 year old Springer narrowboat on the Kennet and Avon canal.
Shot for Bath publication, Nearfield, I met Josie close to Bradford-on-Avon and she explained what life was like, living a more a freeform existence, sailing from mooring to mooring.
When she's not writing, Josie paints pottery in a traditional Irish or gypsy style and maintains good friendships with many of the other canal users.
As much as I can completely understand how idyllic a life could be on a sunny summer's day as that was, Josie made it apparent that the cold, dark winters could be particularly difficult, especially when it was wet for long periods. I like to forget about the winter anyway, long live the endless summer days and nights, how lovely!
